A Close Up Kinda News Letter
Welcome to the first Close Up Magic Newsletter!
Hi! Thank you for reading our first news letter. I (Stephen Cameron, founder of The Close Up Magic), will be bringing you news and information that I find interesting regarding the Orlando Magic. Here you will find short segments, announcements about the Orlando Magic and what news we have going on here at The Close Up Magic.
The Magic are coming off a very ugly win, beating the Warriors 100 to 96 on Sunday December 1st. A win is a win at the end of the day, but you can surely tell the Magic are still trying to figure out some offensive rhythm. Evan Fournier continues to be the one consistent on that end. Markelle Fultz has made some progress and made a few big shots late in the 4th to help secure the win, but the game went to the last second with late play turnovers, sloppy defense, and poor offense execution. The Magic are 8-11 sitting in the 8th seed of the Eastern Conference. Up next, the Wizards on 12/3.

Past 6 Games
The Magic started a 4 game road trip in Toronto. Unfortunately, early in the game both Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic both came out with ankle injuries. Gordon missed the remainder of the road trip but was able to play against the Raptors at home on 11/29. Vucevic, however, had a much more significant injury, and will be out for a minimum of 4 weeks.

Player Watch
Evan Fournier is having one of his best years in a Magic uniform. He is averaging 18.4PPG while shooting the 3 ball at 41%. Evan is also averaging 3.4 assists and shooting 85% from the charity stripe. Evan is still not a natural passer and that has sometimes hurt the team but overall he seems to have benefited from Fultz moving into the starting lineup this year. In the last 8 games Evan has scored over 20 points 6 times including two games of 30 points or more. Evan just had a season high 32 point game in a win versus the Warriors. He has only scored in the single digits twice this season and shows no signs of slowing down. At this point I think we can only expect to see Fournier’s and Fultz’s chemistry improve going forward, hopefully making them a suitable duo for the season. Evan is currently a strong force offensively.
